IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center is a leading research, development, and innovation centre active in the fields of High-Performance Computing (HPC), Quantum Computing (QC), Data Analytics (HPDA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and their applications, with strong international links employing more than 150 scientific, technical, and administrative employees. IT4Innovations currently operates two supercomputers, Karolina (15.7 PFlop/s) and Barbora (849 TFlop/s), and is a member of the LUMI consortium, which operates the EU's largest supercomputer, LUMI. In early 2024, the Quantum Computing Lab was established at IT4Innovations, a hosting facility for one of the six EuroHPC quantum computers. We are seeking a 

Postdoc for the Quantum Computing Lab                           

for project REFRESH - Research Excellence For REgion Sustainability and High-tech Industries (CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000048), research program 3 - Research in the field of digitization and transformation of the energy industry in the position of Postdoc EL (D)

 

Activity description:

  • work in the team team focusing on quantum computing in the Quantum Computing Lab,   

  • development and implementation of quantum error correction codes,             

  • quantum algorithm development, 

  • independent research of quantum computing theory,    

  • collaboration with other partners, 

  • collaboration on applied and scientific research outputs,           

  • collaboration with other members of the research team,             

  • participation in the implementation of collaborations within their research programme,     

  • undertaking domestic and international business trips,

  • participation in the preparation of (inter)national project proposals,   

  • independently addresses complex scientific research tasks in their field and actively publishes,  

  • conducts research and publishes under the guidance of excellent researchers and senior researchers,  

  • continuous work on increasing his/her qualification.

 

Full time equivalent: full-time employment, 100%

Type of job contract: fixed-term employment, 2 years

Expected start of employment: 1. 12. 2024 or as agreed

 

We require:

  • PhD in computer science and/or related areas (applied mathematics, statistics, physics, etc),       

  • experience of quantum algorithm development in language Python,   

  • experience wirth development and implementation of quantum error correction codes,     

  • experience with gate-based quantum computing,            

  • experience with sw libraries and tools like Qiskit or Cirq,             

  • demonstrable publication activity,

  • experience with the development of mathematical background of quantum computing,     

  • experience of quantum computing didactics (lecturer),

  • experience with the preparation and implementation of international research projects,     

  • willingness to continue self-education and work in the team,   

  • English language - good working knowledge,         

  • H-index of at least 5, or 50 citations of their own work, demonstrated involvement in basic/applied/contract research projects,              

  • completion of foreign research stays totaling at least 3 months,            

  • foreign researcher, or an exceptionally talented domestic researcher with significant international experience (at least 3 months).
