The fundamental variable in the world is change. Everything around us is changing and evolving, from the evolution of nature to the technological revolution. Let's turn one night a year into a unique celebration of science!
Have you ever heard of supercomputers? Do you know how much they affect our daily lives? The IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Centre opens its doors and invites children and adults to enjoy tours, games, talks, and SUPERfun. SUPERgifts are also waiting for the clever ones.
Entry to this event is free.
SUPEREXCURSIONS
Behind the Scenes of the Supercomputing Centre
See places where only some people usually go and learn what it takes to run a supercomputer. From the basement, where a unique backup power system is hidden, to the roof, where heat exchangers with heat pumps heat our entire building and provide domestic hot water.
WHERE: Meeting at the reception on the ground floor 10 minutes early.
WHEN: 4 pm, 5 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm
Excursions last approximately 60 minutes and are suitable for adults and children over 10. REGISTRATION is required.
superLECTURES
Supercomputers are essential to today's science. Find out where supercomputers help by listening to exciting lectures. There's no way you'll be bored!
5 pm – 10 pm | Science in the "hands" of supercomputers
IT4Innovations computing time is dedicated to solving tasks in research and development, especially for academic workplaces and other research institutions in the Czech Republic. In the past year, 629 research projects have been active and have consumed more than 7,3 million node hours.
Stop for a while, listen to what this computing time is, and learn about those who use the computing time of the most powerful Czech supercomputers and their exciting projects.
Presentation prepared by Tomáš Kozubek, Scientific Director of IT4Innovations.
5:30 pm – 6 pm | A quick introduction to AI
Do you know how today's "artificial intelligence" works and how it is possible for a computer to have a meaningful conversation? If not, or if you want to learn more about AI, this talk is for you.
A talk prepared for you by Ada Böhm.
6:30 pm – 7 pm | Quantum World: How do quantum computers work?
Dive into the fascinating world of quantum computing and discover how qubits work, the fundamental building blocks of this revolutionary technology.
A talk prepared for you by Jiří Tomčala.
7:30 pm – 8 pm | Supercomputers help companies grow
Be inspired by the world of supercomputers and discover that it's not just for scientists. We'll show you how Czech companies are using these super-powerful machines to solve complex problems while saving time and money. We will introduce you to success stories of Czech companies that have already used supercomputers to solve their challenges. We will show you how the National Centre of Competence for HPC is helping Czech companies on their way to using supercomputers. And as a bonus, you will learn what the acronym HPC stands for. Don't miss this opportunity to get a glimpse of the fascinating world where science meets practice and changes our future.
A talk prepared for you by Tomáš Karásek.
8:30 pm – 9 pm | All you wanted to know about supercomputers but did not know who to ask
Come and hear what the supercomputing center is, what supercomputers are used for, who they help, and what projects are solved there.
All this and more in the lecture by the IT4Innovations Scientific Director himself, who will answer everything you have ever wanted to know about supercomputers!
A talk prepared for you by Vít Vondrák, Director of IT4Innovations.

SUPERFUN throughout the night
A close-up look at supercomputers
Stop by our showroom, take a closer look at the most powerful supercomputers in the Czech Republic, and learn what they consist of, what software they use, what is the difference between a regular computer and a supercomputer, and what they have in common or what is their consumption. Just everything you might be interested in about supercomputers.
IT4Innovations Supercomputing Services specialists will answer all your questions about supercomputers.
This is how a deep fake is created
Creating a deep fake is a complex process that relies on artificial intelligence algorithms, specifically deep learning algorithms. These algorithms analyse thousands of images and videos to learn how to mimic a person's facial expressions, movements and voice. This involves processing large amounts of data, which can be done efficiently on supercomputers. The result can be realistic videos where, for example, one person's face is replaced by another's. Deepfake technology has many exciting entertainment, education, and arts applications. Still, its misuse can have serious ethical and legal implications, such as the spread of misinformation, cyberbullying, or invasion of privacy. Using this technology responsibly and with an awareness of the potential risks is essential.
Stop by and think about how easy and threatening it is to turn yourself into your favourite film or music star.
Superheroes for Science – science fiction or reality?
Do you like stories? Even the adventures of the heroes in our comics may seem unreal to you. We've used a lot of imagination, but the basis is the real work of scientists. Curious readers can 'read' the rewards in our comics, but more importantly, they can meet the superheroes who make science fiction a reality. Discover how artificial intelligence searches for a specific object in images. Find out how modern technology makes even the most difficult tasks easier!
Robot football
Robot football is a constantly evolving field of science that deals with the uncertain and dynamic environment of interacting agents - robots. It combines many seemingly disparate areas of interest, such as research on multi-agent systems, real-time camera image processing, controlling and steering autonomous robots, path planning and cooperation between robots on the playing field, obstacle avoidance, and often involves machine learning methods, otherwise known as AI - artificial intelligence. At IT4Innovations, we are developing an in-house robot football 3D simulator based on these scientific methods.
Come try it out, create your own game strategy for your robot team, and try to beat your siblings, parents, or even our home team from IT4Innovations in robot football!
Virtual reality and supercomputers
Very few people can get into our data room. But you have this unique opportunity thanks to 3D glasses! Come and see our supercomputers from close up indeed.
Examining your retina by training neural networks
Bonmedix is working with artificial intelligence experts at IT4Innovations on an expert system project that uses neural network modelling and training to classify and segment images used in retinal examinations of patients with diabetic retinopathy (diabetic blindness). Our supercomputers are helping to train and validate individual models more accurately, ultimately leading to a massive increase in screening capacity in the future, enabling screening for all patients regardless of expert staffing capacity and early detection of serious age-related or diabetic eye disease.
A demonstration of this unique system, which uses neural networks to detect pathologies associated with diabetic retinopathy using images taken with a fundus camera, will be available exclusively at IT4Innovations on Friday evening.
Mathematics changes the world around us
Did you know that a single equation can tell you whether a painting is real or fake, the age of an artifact, the time of death in forensics, or the amount of a drug we will have in our blood in two hours? Do you know mathematics is behind successful communication with space probes or efficient puzzle solving?
