Thousands of high-performance computing professionals met again at the international Supercomputing Conference SC21, which took place from 14th to 19th November in St. Louis, USA. IT4Innovations was also among the exhibitors at this supercomputing event.
As in the previous years, this year's participation of IT4Innovations at the SC conference has already been a tradition. However, the number one topic this year was Karolina, the newest Ostrava supercomputer and the 71st most powerful one in the world. It came away from the conference ranking 8th in the GREEN500 list of the world's most energy-efficient supercomputers, which was updated for the purpose of the conference.
In addition to the Ostrava supercomputing infrastructure, colleagues from IT4Innovations also presented another member of the European supercomputer family, namely the Finnish LUMI supercomputer. Czech scientists will soon be using it for their computations as well, thanks to IT4Innovations' involvement in the European EuroHPC Joint Undertaking. International projects in which IT4Innovations is involved were also an integral part of the presentation. We were also given space to present our research activities; in the poster session we showed one of our projects on the use of artificial intelligence in monitoring urban changes.
The SC22 conference will be held in Dallas, Texas, USA, from 13th to 18th November 2022.
